October TBR | 2014

I think I did pretty good in the month of September. I feel I did way better than the month before, that is for sure. This month I decided to only chose 4 books and one comic paperback bind-up/graphic novel. That way if I feel like reading another books I won't be so restrain to read certain books.

*I have decided to read one Stephen King book and one Brandon Sanderson book every month.

Books:
1. The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson
2. The Monstrumologist by Rick Yancey (pick from my TBR jar)
3. It by Stephen King
4. All the Light we cannot see by Anthony Doerr

Comic paperback bind-up:
1. Y: Last Man Vol. 3

Most likely I will be finishing up The Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan also. I just didn't wanted added as a for sure thing.

My September-Wrap up will come on Oct. 1.

Top 5 Wednesday | Top 5 Non-YA Books

Hi guys, it's been a while. Hopefully this get's me back to schedule. This tag was created by Gingerreadslainey at youtube. You guys should check out the goodreads group Top 5 Wednesday. It's originally created for booktube but I have decided to make a blog post. Hope that is okay.

These books are not in any particular order.

Night by Elie Wiesel -
I read this book in High School as an assignment. However, once I picked it up it didn't feel like an assignment. It felt like something more. This story opened my eyes to a different type of reading subject that I started to explore. Something different other than fiction. Stories about the hardship of individuals and dark parts of our history.

The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson  -
I recently read this book and loved it. I was completely blown away by the plot and the characters that Sanderson created. His world building and magic system is amazing. I immediately loved the characters and this twisted world. I can't wait to dive more into this world.

Vicious by V.E. Schwab (Victoria Schwab) -
I really enjoyed the writing style of the author. The concept behind the book was really interesting.  The idea of not one character being good or evil and  about the morality of the individual.

The Eyes of the Dragon By Stephen King -
This is the first Adult fantasy book that I had ever read and loved every single page of it. I had never read a Stephen King book before this one and was happy that this was my first one. His writing is amazingly crafted. I don't get why some people don't enjoy this particular book. I recently read The Shining and I can't wait to dive in more into his books.

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline -
This has to be one of the most entertaining, geekiest book I have ever read. It has so many pop cultural reference that I love. I laugh out loud in some parts which is rare for me.

Alex + Ada | Comic Review

Volume 1, Illustrated by Jonathan Luna and Written by Sarah Vaughn
Image Comics | Release 2014
Amazon | B&N

It has been a while since I read a comic book series that has drawn me in as this one has. Alex + Ada is a interesting story set in the future where A.I. (artificial intelligence) has been made possible. In this society the world is on edge with the evolution of A.I. and forbid any A.I. with any free will to exist after one of them attack people. Going against what they are initially program to do.

This story follows Alex. Alex receives an advance A.I. for a present from his grandmother for a companion. The story follows him trying to make Ada (what he name his A.I.) more human. Allowing her to have free will.

I really intrigue with this storyline. The believes in this story are interesting what they think is acceptable in society with these man made machines. It gives me a terminator vibe where society is obsees with technology which later leads to their destruction. This story has made me more interested in reading more books base on robotic/A.I. fiction. The idea is not that far from our society today. What society is trying to achieve with technology. I am looking forward to see where this story lead to and how rights evolve in this society.

I really like the illustrations style of this comic. The coloring is bright and the images are simple but yet it draws you in. You could see the signature style of the artist.  This his other work (Sword, Girls) I love how clean the line work is.

Rating:

If you guys have read this comic book series what do you guys think? And do you guys have any recommendations?

#LITTLEreadathon | Day 3

I really enjoying both these world. "The Shining" is putting me on the edge of my seat as I read more and more into the story. I really enjoy the writing style and how the characters are developing through out the story. I don't know why I haven't read more Stephen King before. I am reading slowly though. I don't really have that much time to read during the week because of work.

I have been getting mix feelings with "A Dance with Dragons" I have come to like more the chapters with the characters that I really didn't like in the begining of the series that with the characters that I liked. That suprise me. I really don't know how I am feeling about this book in the series. I am enjoying it but not as much as the other books. I will have to wait and see for my thoughts until I finish the book.

Day 3:
A Dance with Dragons (74)

But pretty happy that I have read 558 pages so far. Hopefully I can actually finish one of the books tomorrow. I am really enjoying "A Dance with Dragons", George R.R. Martin can do no wrong. Also, I am loving the Shining. The character development in this book is amazing. How can people not love Stephen Kings writing.

There is so many books I want to finish and this will give me a little push. I don't have a number of books I would like to read or page count. My only goal is to read as much as I could this week. Hopefully it helps me read more than I read last month.
